PANACOR MT15 ACOUSTIC BARRIER
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The PANACOR MT15 acoustic panel is specially designed to reduce noise in areas where there are no buildings on the opposite side of the road where they are going to be installed and when minimal visual impact is required.
These are screens that reflect noise and are generally made of sheets of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), also known as Plexiglas, Lucite or Perspex.
HOW THE SCREEN IS BUILT
The PANACOR MT15 panel is made up of a sheet of extruded colourless or tinted PMMA that is fitted into the metal sections forming the support structure (HEA/HEB standard steel sections) by means of Z-shaped galvanised steel sections, which create a perimeter that affords stability and strength and holds each part in place if they should be broken.
The size of these Z-shaped stiffeners depends on the distance between the screen support sections and the forces the screen is to be subject to as a result of wind pressure or suction by passing road vehicles or trains.

STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS
The support structure for the fence is made up of HEA/HEB metal posts on a welded base plate, both complying with grade S275JR according to standard EN 10025. Posts and base plates are galvanised and heat spray coated to meet the requirements of standards EN 1461 and EN 15773.
Posts are anchored to the foundations using anchor rods that vary in diameter, length and grade depending on the specific requirements of each individual project.
RUBBER GASKETS
IMPROVED PERFORMANCE
The joint between the stiffener sections and the PMMA panel is sealed with a fitted EPDM gasket that absorbs expansion of the PMMA panel.
At the same time, this seal prevents noise leaks in the contact between the metal frame and the panel.
OVERALL BEHAVIOUR
DIMENSIONAL STABILITY AGAINST HEAT
When exposed to heat for prolonged periods of time, it should not exceed a temperature of 80ºC.
AGEING
PANACOR MT15 PMMA acoustic panels display excellent all-weather stability against UV radiation. Even after years of exposure to solar radiation, the panels do not undergo substantial changes to their properties. When used in outdoor environments, the panels are delivered with a protective film cover that should be removed immediately after installation as otherwise it can become permanently stuck to the panel when it is exposed to sunlight. This film protects the panels from being scratched or splashed with paint during erection.
LIGHT TRANSMISSION
This is one of the main advantages of this type of screen – because the panel is made of 15 mm thick, transparent PMMA, it affords excellent visual permeability.
