PANACOR PVC LW70 stand out for their versatility. Our walls are suitable for all types of projects, whether for the development of residential, commercial or industrial projects or to limit the spread of sound near a traffic lane. The walls we offer are part of a system in which we support engineering design calculations, shop drawings and performance plans and specifications, including the architectural component. We use powerful simulation software and innovative design tools to optimize a wall system that meets the desired performance.
PVC NOISE BARRIERS
PVC profiles are made to last. They can be reflective or absorbent. They are composed of posts between which we insert the PVC noise barrier panels. The PVC panels are made of recycled PVC in the core which is covered by a layer of prime PVC-compound. This outside layer is highly UV-resistant and has an outstanding weather resistance. The manufacturing process allows for the external surface to have a UV protection with numerous colors. They are available in 6 colors and are up to 6 meters in length. An architectural motif can be proposed by interchanging the colors of slats. The profiles are manufactured by a PVC co-extrusion process. If desired panel surface can have different textures or prints. All the exposed surfaces comply with architect demands or special client signature. Given the lightness of the PVC sound barrier panels, they are often included in hybrid noise barriers.
Posts: posts are sized to fit design needs for dead, wind, seismic and other loads. They are usually made of steel. They take the desired color and can be galvanized if they are in an area sensitive to aggression salts deglacings. The base of the post will take different forms depending on the fastener on the foundation or on the structure. The PVC slats fit with great precision in the post.
PVC reflective profiles has a sound transmission class (STC) rating equal to or greater than 32. Performance can be improved by inserting mineral wool or wrapping one side of the wall with durable insulation. The slats have a smooth finish for fast and efficient cleaning.
Absorbent PVC slats screen has a noise reduction coefficient (NRC) between 0.85 and 1. On the absortive surface there are different patterns of grooves and tongues to substantially improve the acoustic behavior of the screen. A powerful absorbent mineral wool is inserted into the PVC slats. The mineral wool used is water repellent and mildew resistant. Several tests were carried out which showed that after overnight immersion in water, the material is dry. In the field, the observations showed the same thing.
Over the years, we have introduced Hybrid PVC walls into the market as a combination of reflective and absorbent PVC-panels. This versatile concept enhances the benefits of both systems by optimizing the acoustic performance.
PANACOR PVC LW70 A
Product description
PANACOR PVC LW70 A has been introduced to the market to improve the noise absorption behavior due to the increasing demands of our customers. Composed of slotted PVC profiles with ratios of 20 to 35% of the exposed surface of the motorway side, the wall encounters very high levels of sound absorption.
The configuration of the slots has been optimized by involving sound engineers and architects in order to meet acoustic performances while at the same time offering aesthetic appeal. Different slot configurations are available and could be consider upon request as well as colors and surface finishes.
The slotting process takes place in a separate production step in our Prescott factory. The manufacturing of all components, the PVC panels and the mineral wool inserts included, are subject to a clear, rigid and thorough quality management plan assuring a top quality product.
For the PANACOR PVC LW70 A product we tested the materials under ASTM E90-09: “Standard Test Method for Laboratory Measurement of Airborne Sound Transmission Loss of Building Partitions and Elements.” We also submit the single number rating of the specimen calculated according to ASTM E413-10: “Classification for Rating Sound Insulation”. By matching standardized tests between ASTM and EN ISO, we show that results meets highest acoustic performance level for EN ISO 10140-2 :2010 and EN ISO 717-1 :2007.
Test report shown that the Sound Transmission Loss (STC) number obtain after standard test is: STC = 32 or more.
We also provide result for ASTM C423-17: “Standard Test Method for Sound Absorption and Sound Absorption Coefficients by the Reverberation Room Method.”
Standard test report that the Noise Reduction Coefficient obtains is : NRC = 0.85 or more.
The PVC profiles generally used have :
- Profile height : 151.5 mm. (6 inches)
- Overall profile thickness : 68.6mm (2.70 in.) and PVC wall thickness of: 5 mm (0.2 in.).
- Dimensions of sections : between 2m and 7m long (6 to 23 ft) up to a height of 30ft or more.
- Groove dimensions: 22 mm x 24 mm and slot dimensions: 108 mm long x 6 mm wide.
- Slotted surface is about 20 to 25% of the surface exposed to the noise
- Filled with mineral wool with very a hight level of absorption.
PANACOR PVC LW70 R
Product description
PANACOR PVC LW70 R has been developed over the past 7 years in order to meet the highest standards of the industries. The initial concept consists of PVC profiles installed between galvanized steel columns resting on several types of supports. The design is such that the system meets all design loads ensuring a durability of more than 50 years. The system meets local and nationals requirements. The system can be used in extreme event when installing in the ZOI (zone of intrusion). PANACOR PVC LW70 meets NCHRP Report 350 TL-3, TL-4 and TL-5 requirements when used with the PANACOR PVC LW70 ANTIIMPACT system.
The wall allows several architectural variants by proposing an infinite number of colors, different surfaces and a combination with other panels such as concrete, steel and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).
The reflective wall system meets the sound reflective objectives according to the recognized standard tests. The wall is lightweight, easy to store and managed and can be quickly cut to needed sizes. The PVC profiles are easily cleaned and exhibit a high protection against UV rays and graffiti.
Using PVC material and extrusion technology for a sound proofing profile reduces the carbon foot print noticeably compared to other sound wall systems. Our lightweight PVC profiles allow for very efficient transport options, for instance on a 53ft flat bed trailer fit 21,000ft of profile (10ft long) equaling an astounding amount of 10,400sqft of sound wall area.

FOR BOTH PVC PROFILES
Structural adequacy and assessment
We use computer simulation to make sure that our PVC system can last for decades. According to the selected and optimized sections, we run computer simulation to assure that PVC system meets the mechanical resistance and maximum deflection desired. PVC slotted tongue and groove panels are meshed in our program to follow all the internal modifications when submitted to wind forces in service load and ultimate load.
When required, internal steel stiffneer can be inserted to reach the specified design for a taller section or a longer span.
Durability and maintenance requirements
The PVC profiles are made to last, because they do not rot, rust or corrode. PVC is a construction material that has proven itself and is recognized for its durability. Our PVC profiles contain a highly UVresistant capstock, that covers all visible surface areas that are exposed to UV and weather, and meets the best performance for this type of material. Weather exposures of snow, ice, hail, rain, and salt from roads are not known to have any abrasive effect to the PVC sound barrier profiles.
The mineral wool used inside the profiles is water repellent and mildew resistant. Several tests have been performed that showed after an overnight immersion in water, the material is dry. In the field, observations show, after many years of service that the mineral wool material does not deteriorate in any way prematurely.
Graffiti’s can be easily removed using the appropriate products. Changing parts can be easily performed in a few hours. We keep PVC panels and poles in inventory so we can rapidly supply spares parts on demand.
Installation
The rigidity of the PVC profiles allow for a perfectly aligned installation.
Basic survey equipment will be required. A very small crew could fill the section by inserting PVC profiles between poles. No adjustments required. Stoppers can be installed on top of each superior profile corner. If needed by engineers. Replacement of profile took only minutes. Two man can remove easily a complete section and reinstall others with no special equipment. Material is very light.
PVC profiles could be shipped in bundles or assembled in panels ready to be installed between poles. Close to 10 000 sq.ft could be load on a truck or a container.
